Event - help, requests, features ....POST YOUR EVENTS WITH THE DIRT!Submitted by Laura on Thu, 02/16/2006 - 15:57.
Hello all! Here's a request that goes out to YOU with your many eyes and ears in the community. Having been in contact with organizations since 1999 to post their events and get them out and in the public eye, we have a pretty good track record so far. Of course there are always new organizers, new environmentally friendly events being dreamed up and many many more things happening than even we can keep our ear to the ground. Help is needed. If you know of an environmentally minded event that raises dialogue or awareness about a particular issue or encourages people to take a positive action, feel free to post it here on this website. OR, send the link to the organizer and reccommend our site to them using word-of-mouth publicity. If you let an organizer know that you would love to be reading their events on The Dirt! it sometimes can carry a lot more weight. Best wishes, and thanks for your support. Laura B. Nobel LEAD POISONINGSubmitted by Community Energ... on Wed, 04/12/2006 - 10:18.
If your home was painted before 1979 it may contain lead paint. Lead poisoning doesn't just come from eating paint chips - the number one cause of lead poisoning is lead dust, something that is hard to see and easily overlooked. Children are most vulnerable to lead poisoning. Lead can cause severe developmental and health problems, and even death. Those with children who live or visit their homes and pregnant women should certainly come! Please call Community Energy Project at 503-284-4962 x 4 OR email at lead@communityenergyproject.com to sign up for a workshop (so we know how many free kits to bring with us!) and be empowered through knowledge.
