PINK MARTINI AND MCMENAMINS ANNOUNCE FUNDFEST 2008

06/03/2008 - 08:00

Portland, OR – Pink Martini and McMenamins announce FundFest 2008! – a four-night fundraising concert event at the Crystal Ballroom on June 3 to 6 to benefit four local non-profits. Pink Martini and McMenamins will produce the event and donate 100% of the net proceeds to be equally divided among the following beneficiaries, which were selected by Pink Martini band members:

• Friends of Trees
• KBOO Community Radio
• Outside In
• Bicycle Transportation Alliance

The goal of FundFest 2008 is to raise a total of $80,000 or $20,000 each for the four beneficiaries. “Pink Martini is approached every year by dozens of organizations to perform at fundraisers and events, which is difficult because we spend so much of the year on the road,” says Pink Martini bandleader Thomas M. Lauderdale. “FundFest –which is four nights of fun and festive fundraising – is an opportunity for the band to raise money for four different organizations whose work we want to honor and support.”

Tickets for each night are $20 in advance and go on sale Saturday, April 26 at Noon. There will also be a patron reception on Friday, June 6 in Lola’s Room from 6-8pm to further support the beneficiaries at a higher level. At the patron event Thomas Lauderdale will perform Gershwin’s “Rhapsody In Blue,” and Pink Martini band members will be in attendance to thank the four non-profits for the important work they do for our city.

Each non-profit will be present on their dedicated night to share information about their mission and programs with concertgoers. Former Pink Martini manager John Brodie, who is back to produce the 2008 event, created the concept for FundFest in 2006. The inaugural FundFest raised $84,324 and donated $21,081 each to four local non-profits.
