 CEP MISSION                     The Community Energy Project empowers people in the Portland Metro area to maintain healthier, more livable homes, control their utility costs, and conserve natural resources.
 
POSITION                         (Seasonal) Weatherization Workshop Facilitator
 
SUPERVISOR                     Program Manager, Education and Outreach

 

COMPENSATION             $10/hour, part-time (0.5 FTE), Seasonal (10/16/06 – 4/15/07)
 
POSITION SUMMARY     
Seasonal Position: Are you looking for a job in the nonprofit sector and enjoy working with diverse groups of people? If so, you may enjoy working for the Community Energy Project. Work with highly motivated, creative staff in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. Connect with hundreds of community partner organizations and meet thousands of people in Portland.  Develop your skills as a public speaker and group facilitator while delivering multi-sensory, hands-on home weatherization workshops in the Portland area. We need someone who can “meet people where they are” and be available to conduct workshops in evenings and on weekends, as well as some during the weekdays.

 

The Seasonal Weatherization Workshop Facilitator will assist in the delivery of over 50 “do it yourself” workshops to 500-800 Portland area residents.
 
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
 

  1. Assist with delivery of 50-80 Home Weatherization workshops for 500-800 Portland residents. Includes: facilitating, conducting, and assisting with marketing for workshops and registration, rescheduling, and contact follow-up for potential and current participants
  2. Transport and maintain workshop props, tools, participant kits, and paperwork for workshops
  3. Complete and track workshop paperwork, including participant forms, surveys, and inventory control sheets
  4. Assist in the maintenance  of workshop participant database, workshop schedule, and community workshop host sites/contacts
  5. Facilitate workshops for those presentations lead by volunteer community workshop leaders
  6. Assist with the promotion of CEP’s online store fundraiser
  7. Assist fellow CEP staff with large community outreach and volunteer events, especially with the In-Home Weatherization Program (volunteers providing direct services to senior citizens and people with disabilities)
  8. Assist with providing community information and referral services to interested community members via email or phone, walk-in inquiries, and at community events


QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Excellent interpersonal skills with diverse individuals and groups of people
  2. Ability (or willingness to learn) how to provide services in a culturally competent manner
  3. Experience with group facilitation and public speaking
  4. Dedication to working collaboratively as part of a team
  5. Track record of being highly organized, dependable, and punctual
  6. Ability to lift 35lbs and able to load and unload weatherization materials from the warehouse to vehicle at the beginning and end of workshops, when assembling kits, or receiving shipments of materials
  7. Must have the availability to work a flexible schedule, including many evenings and weekends.
  8. Must have a valid driver’s license, good driving record, and an automobile
  9. Strong interest in environmental and social issues and community development
  10. Bilingual in Spanish, Chinese, Russian, Vietnamese or other language spoken in the Portland Metro area helpful
